I have a dream... of bringing the gift of coaching to the Deaf community. With a 3-year foundation of learning American Sign Language (ASL) in college, I'm working with a private tutor on the TakeLessons platform every week to expand my general conversational skills and translate coaching phrases into sign. I'm also attending monthly ASL meet-ups around the bay with the East Bay ASL Group.
If you know anyone who communicates primarily in ASL and think they could benefit fromcoaching, please introduce us. If I'm not the right coach for them, I'll find someone who is. You may just change their life.
Every month, I low key organize an in-person meet-up of coaches in the Bay Area. The purpose is connection, inspiration, and mutual support. Sometimes we do potlucks. We rotate the location each month to keep things interesting: SF, East Bay, North Bay, South Bay.
Coaches of all disciplines are welcome to join. If you're interested in coming to one, just ask.
I help teach the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu kid's class on Saturday mornings at Guardian Gym. Guardian is a 501(c)3 nonprofit martial arts academy in Oakland, CA that is currently free for kids ages 8-17, and offers affordable, sliding-scale memberships for adults which automatically support the youth program.
If you're in the area, come drop in for a free class or open mat.
I'm creating something I wish existed today. Target release date is Q1, 2020 - stay tuned!
